As a young boy, banjo player Curtis Eller performed as a juggler and acrobat along side his father in Detroit, Michigan. Not only did his father introduce him to the circus arts, but he also gave Curtis his first banjo. After relocating to New York City in 1996, Curtis spent time honing his skills on the New York Antifolk scene and soon formed his band, The American Circus. Curtis and his band have performed at funerals, horse races, burlesque shows and vaudeville revues and are constantly touring the U.S. and U.K. In 2001, Curtis released his first full-length CD entitled 1890. This was followed by 2002's Banjo Music for Funerals and 2004's Taking Up Serpents Again.
